New Blog Home!!!

It's official... I can't stand Blogger's editing template.
I have honestly spent more time trying to get things where I want them (and failed) then creating the actual posts themselves.

I have moved to a new blog site at : http://www.allaboutshoeporn.com/

Check it out.

Thanks :-)

Now where did I put my lucky charms?!

My grand-mother was born and raised in Ireland so I guess that makes me legitimately one eighth Irish!
This means two things... when I go to work/school drunk today no one is allowed to judge me and I MUST wear green shoes! Both of these items will be done in the name of heritage :-)

If you don't own green shoes you should probably get on that because apart from fun tacky t-shirts you can only wear one day a week, they are the best way to flash some green.

Need some St-Patty's bling? No problem. These 4 1/2 inch Alexander McQueen peep toes are perfect for evoking your inner Gaga. They feature a hidden platform for added comfort and the upper vamp and toe feature small crystals.

Not feeling Gaga? But going out tonight? Jazz up your jeans with these super cute (and affordable) green patent leather peep toe shoe named Dahlia by Promiscuous. The cork heel makes them sweet...the cutouts and straps make them sexy.

Lucky enough to go somewhere fancy for St-Patty's? No problem. The stalked bow is both feminine and flirty. These Acid green Pura Lopez   satin sling backs are perfect.

Plan on getting completely FUBAR'd on St-Patty's day? Perhaps flats are better for you. Try these adorable metallic green Odessa flats by Gabriella Rocha.

2010 Oscar Red Carpet

Sexy Nudes

This spring there are two hot trends that we see on the catwalk and were nailed on the red carpet... Nude tones and ultra feminine lingerie inspired cuts. Cameron Diaz looked wonderful in this beautiful sparkly Oscar de La Renta dress. Demi Moore was a dream in this yummy Atelier Versace dress. I don't like buck tooth... I mean Miley Cyrus. Her voice makes me want to buy KFC and marry my cousin! She did however look amazing in this gorgeous Jenny Packham dress. YeeHaw!

Speak Art to Me

Rachel McAdams is hot. I could just finish that thought with a period and move on to the next dress but I guess I should provide more commentary!  This amazing Elie Saab dress is like a dreamy impressionistic painting... Monet would be proud. The slick back hair and gorgeous chandelier earrings just made my day... possibly the best dressed of the night!

So it's not bad... but it's not good... it's just meh! Maggie I love you but sometimes your fashion choices make my skin crawl a little! This is an improvement but I can't help but think this dress seems a bit too informal for the Oscars... and frankly it's not really doing anything for you. This Dries Van Noten creation is apparently inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night but I am not sure if that interpretation was a success or utter failure. Is it just me, or does the bottom of the dress seems almost unfinished...

Purple People Eater

Unfinished is a compliment compared to what I have to say about Zoe Saldana's nightmare extravaganza. This cross between Chicago and the Muppets is a Givenchy Couture creation by Riccado Tisci. Truth be told not all is lost... Zoe's face, hair, and champagne portion of the dress look beautiful. Even her purple shoes are great... I just wish she would have thought twice before hopping into this Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde monstrosity.

I could have easily called this section when bad fashion happen to good people. This dress feels like it was created by a grade four class on reproductive organs... or simply a bad bad joke! Believe me if I was no longer with Stuart Townsend I would be distraught too... but there is no excuse. This Dior Haute Couture dress was apparently designed especially for Mrs Theron by John Galliano himself... I say he should have gone back to the drawing board!

Sorry to Burst your Bubble...
Who said bubble wrap was appropriate for the red carpet? Hands down Gaga! Amani Prive is the mastermind behind both Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lopez's horrible dresses. This is a case where the dress itself is nice: good shape, nice use of draping for J-Lo's... all is good except for the fabric! Upon closer look I am not sure if this truly is bubble wrap or a quilt. Whatever it is it's horrible and both of these actresses should be ashamed!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD! Now pass me my Mastercard!

Canada is kicking ass at the Olympics! Sure the Americans have more metals but we have more gold and this weekend we are going to finish off by taking Gold in hockey. Do I care are about hockey? Fuck no? Do I care about the Olympics? Even less... but I do love gold shoes so this ladies and gentlemen is my transition... Enjoy! Oh and Go Canada Go!

Between soakers, getting sprayed by passing cars and salt covered jeans, I think we can all agree that slush is possibly the worst thing in the world.  But with Gold Wellies I could maybe learn to love this evil snow/rain mix! Le Chameau Iris Rubber Boots, $119.95

I actually own these flats in black and they are ridiculously comfortable. Jasspeer by Madden Girl $49.90

I am a sucker for shiny/sparkly things... so I squealed like a little schoolgirl when I stumbled on these gold glittery patent leather pumps by Marc Jacob, $183.69

Speaking of shiny Jimmy Choo has dozens of amazing shiny gold patent leather shoes... these gold mirror shoes are gorgeous,  $679.99

And if vintage is more your thing, check out these cute distressed Ginlane Mary Jane pumps by Jessica Simpson, $59.90

Spring is in the air?!

So it's a little late to comment on Groundhog's day given that we are already half way done February but this ridiculously mild weather god me thinking that maybe Wiraton Willie was hung over when he made his prediction! This is good news because shoe trends (much like clothing at American Apparel) do not respect Canadian seasons. Sure in California we can wear open toe booties in February but that doesn't fly here... right? Well this week it's been warm as hell! So I decided to point out some of the key trends for this spring:

Still good from last season.... Zippers, hot gladiator/dominatrix style heels, anything patent leather, over the knee boots and the hidden platform.

New additions this Spring include:

Nude & Blush shades: From peep toe to pumps if there is one staple item this season it's the nude/blush shoe.

Left: Ian in Nude Sude-by Harajuku Lovers
Top Right: Terracotta suede 'Madame Claude' d'orsay pumps by Christian Louboutin

Wooden & Cork Heel: I mentioned platforms are still everywhere and this season if they aren't hidden platforms they are wood or cork.

Left: White print leather cork platform pumps by Guiseppe Zanotti; Bottom Right: cork leather zip platform sandals by Fendi

Obnoxious Colours: Radioactive Greens, School-bus Yellows and Hot Pinks... the perfect little party shoe this year is in an obnoxiously bright colour!
Rolando 120 patent leather pumps by Christian Louboutin

Spats or Ankle details: Do it with a bootie or a pump (but beware the cankles). Zoom by Jimmy Choo

Clogs... I am not gonna lie, I hate clogs! Every major fashion magazine is praising their return I am am no so secretly cringing on the inside. I feel it is my duty however to let you know they are trendy this season... may the fashion gods have mercy on my sole! (typo-pun on purpose thank you very much)

RIP Mr. McQueen

I was shocked this morning to hear that one of my favourite designers Alexander McQueen died today.
The circumstances of his death are still unknown but the 40 year old designer has had a rough few days after the death of his mother last week.

His designs were edgy, unique, and oozed of confidence... The fashion world will miss you :-(

Shall I shop in your honour?! Me thinks yes!

I heart equestrian inspired styles and this Horse Shoe Tote Bag is gorgeous! Does anyone have $1600 they can lend me? Please?

You can't go wrong with electric blue patent leather  peep toe shoes (bonus points for having a conned heel)! These shoes are hawt!

Another peep toe but since it's Valentine's Day in two days (and my hubby's birthday today) I thought it was fitting that this shoe features a heart shaped peep toe. Also I am a sucker for details like the yellow sole... no can really see it but I'll know it's there :-)

Last but not least the Union Jack Skull Clutch... weird, dark, and deliciously wonderful. Enjoy
